Bill Shachtman went to UCLA for undergrad(BA) and grad school(MA) at Cal state Long Beach, then Med School Albany New York(MD) internship at UCLA and residency in ophthalmology at University of Colorado. Was serving with Uncle Sam for two years at Ft Riley Ks. Private practice ophthalmology in Fort Collins Colorado starting with one employee in July 77 and now 31 docs and over 300 employees. Married Beverly in1967 and have 3 kids and seven grandkids now. Have spent a lot of time running and biking and feel like biking may have allowed me to live longer than any other male in my family. Not working or biking as much now but still trying to work part time in the office and weather permitting still get out on one of my bikes. Skiing intermittently not nearly as much as we used to because I don't like the crowds and drive. Prior to Covid we've spent a lot of time traveling and now just trying to stay safe and healthy.Proudest achievement to date is my family and the fact that they are all happu and doing well.Education is the key to success and an open mind and out going personality help. Probably the only one in the class that can say-------- I don't do social media
