Hollywood Eden by Joel Selvin

I just finished this very interesting book about the beginnings of California rock and roll and University High alumni of 1958. As an old rock and roller I appreciated the detail and insights, and some of the overlap our class had with Jan and Dean, and Arnie.

Uni Hi has always had a uniique and colorful history of alums.

Thanks

Just a note of thanks to Bob & Dave and all the folks who have persevered to keep the site alive — perhaps that's not quite the word I should be using in 2121 — in any event y'all know what I mean.

Message from Bob Riskin

Our own classmate, Bob Riskin, has led an effort over the last several years trying to resurrect our old class website.  Unfortunately, he was not successful and asked me to pass on this message:

"Dear Classmates

I have spent three years on recovering the unihiw61 website. I have nothing to show for it but a lot of emotional wear and tear.

I give up. I have other things I have to do.

Have fun with your reunion people.

Bob Riskin"

Thanks for the effort, Bob.

All Inclusive Reunion

Just to be clear, this reunion is open to anyone and everyone who was ever a member of our class from kindergarten through high school.  If you know of anyone in that catergory, please advise them to go to our website and register and, if possible, attend the reunion next May.  If you would rather, send their contact information to me.  Thanks, Dave Kuhn

History of University High School

On another note, I was doing some research on our high school, which was built in 1923-1924.  It was originally known as Sawtelle High School, but opened as Warren G. Harding High School.  If you want to learn when and why the name was changed to University High School, check out University High School (Los Angeles) on Wikipedia.

Another interesting article on Wikipedia is List of University High School (Los Angeles) alumni.  There are a lot of people we knew while we were there and, of course, our own Randy Newman.!!

Check these articles out.
